Gucumatz was created in response to a brief requiring an intro sequence for a Netflix series inspired by Mayan mythology and history.

The sequence moves through multiple scenes depicting Mayan life and the natural world, gradually building toward the final reveal of Gucumatz the Mayan god. The closing composition draws inspiration from traditional Mayan calendar designs, positioned within the sky to represent the Mayan god of wind and rain.

Through cinematic pacing and symbolic imagery, the project aimed to capture both the mystery and richness of Mayan storytelling.
